About SmartPM

SmartPM is the leading construction project controls analytics platform, converting CPM schedule data into actionable project insights. As owners, developers, and general contractors increasingly rely on data to manage project risk, SmartPM provides the analytics platform that enables better decision-making across portfolios. The Professional Services team works directly with customers to ensure they gain maximum value from SmartPM through expert guidance, interpretation, and support.

Role Overview

SmartPM is seeking a Professional Services Specialist with deep, hands-on CPM scheduling experience to work with general contractor customers across the full spectrum of scheduling maturity — from sophisticated, top-ENR-ranked GCs with established project controls departments, down to mid-market contractors just beginning to build a formal scheduling practice.

The range matters: with the most sophisticated customers, this person needs to hold their own in a peer-level technical conversation with experienced in-house schedulers. With less mature customers, the job shifts — it's less about validating an existing process and more about helping a team build scheduling discipline, standards, and habits where few or none exist today. The ideal candidate has served as a Project Scheduler / Planner at a large ENR-ranked general contractor, construction manager, or design-build firm, and is comfortable operating at both ends of that spectrum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted scheduling resource to general contractor project controls, scheduling, and project management teams using SmartPM, adjusting approach to the customer's scheduling maturity
  • With sophisticated customers: discuss schedule quality, delay risk, and project health data as a credible peer, surfacing issues an experienced in-house team may not have time to catch
  • With mid-market or less mature customers: help establish foundational CPM scheduling standards, habits, and review cadences, essentially assisting in building a scheduling practice from the ground up
  • Discuss schedule performance metrics (SPI, compression, float, critical path health) in terms that land with both corporate scheduling staff and field leadership (PMs, superintendents, project executives)
  • Benchmark customer schedules against industry and SmartPM best practices
  • Support SmartPM platform adoption within contractor scheduling and project controls workflows, including cases where GC use of SmartPM is driven by an owner contract requirement
  • Collaborate with the Sales team on customer demonstrations, drawing on real scheduling experience to build credibility across both sophisticated and emerging scheduling teams
  • Provide feedback to Engineering on product improvements based on customer and field needs
  • Contribute to marketing and thought leadership initiatives (webinars, technical content, conference presentations)
  • Work closely with Customer Success to drive long-term customer satisfaction and retention

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Project Scheduler / Planner at a large ENR-ranked general contractor, CM, or design-build firm
  • Demonstrated experience developing, updating, and progressing CPM schedules on complex, large-scale construction projects
  • Experience building, standardizing, or improving scheduling processes — not only executing within an already-mature department (e.g., rolling out scheduling standards, mentoring less experienced schedulers, standing up a project controls function)
  • Strong command of Primavera P6; working knowledge of Microsoft Project
  • Practical experience with delay analysis methodologies (e.g., time impact analysis, windows analysis, as-planned vs. as-built)
  • Solid understanding of schedule quality standards and CPM scheduling specifications
  • Experience communicating schedule status and risk directly to project executives, superintendents, or corporate project controls leadership
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills, with the range to speak peer-to-peer with expert schedulers and to coach teams with little formal scheduling experience
  • United States citizen with eligibility to work with Federal Government agencies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience training, mentoring, or onboarding teams new to formal CPM scheduling
  • Experience where SmartPM (or similar analytics software) was adopted due to an owner contract requirement
  • Familiarity with SmartPM or comparable schedule analytics software
  • Experience on federal or government construction projects
  • Professional certification (e.g., AACE PSP, PMI-SP)
  • Experience presenting schedule insights to GC executive leadership (e.g., VP of Operations, Project Executive)

Why This Role Is Different

This role is a chance to step off the job site and out of the single-project scheduling grind, without leaving CPM scheduling behind. Instead of fighting the schedule battle on one project at a time, you'll apply that same expertise across a portfolio of GC customers — from elite scheduling departments to teams building a practice from scratch — working at the intersection of construction, technology, and analytics.

SmartPM Professional Services focuses on helping customers succeed with software, not maximizing billable hours. The result is a collaborative environment centered on customer outcomes and innovation in construction technology — built for schedulers who want their expertise to scale further than one project.
